In short: Marriage registration in India is always handled by a local office — an SDM, Sub-Registrar or Marriage Officer whose jurisdiction is set by where you live. The law is national, but the office, the residence proof and the appointment practice are local. These pages name the likely office and route for each Delhi area and city, so you approach the right counter with the right file the first time.

Why location decides your file

Marriage registration in India runs through a local office, so the area you live in shapes the office you visit, the residence proof you need and the practical rhythm of the appointment. Two couples with identical documents can still have different experiences in different localities, simply because jurisdiction, the local SDM or registrar and the verification habits differ.

These location pages exist to remove that guesswork. Each one names the likely office, the route that usually fits couples in that area and the document points that matter most there. If your area is not listed, send a WhatsApp message with your location and we will map the route for you.

Delhi, NCR and the rest of India

Delhi itself is not one jurisdiction but eleven district SDM offices, so a couple in Dwarka (South West district), Rohini (North West) and Saket (South) will each report to a different office. Cross the boundary into the NCR and the system changes again: Noida and Ghaziabad follow Uttar Pradesh rules through the Tehsil or SDM, while Gurugram and Faridabad run on Haryana's Saral system. Chandigarh, as a Union Territory, has its own process distinct from neighbouring Punjab and Haryana.

Beyond the capital region, Mumbai registers through BMC ward Registrars, Bengaluru through the jurisdictional Sub-Registrar and the Kaveri portal, Jaipur through the Rajasthan SSO system, and Lucknow through the UP Tehsil offices. Each of our city pages explains that local layer, so wherever you are, the checklist you follow actually fits the office you will visit.

How to use these location pages

Start with the page closest to your address, read the 'areas we cover' list to confirm your locality, and note the named office and the usual route for couples like you. Then check the documents section against what you already hold. If anything is unclear — jurisdiction, a partner living elsewhere, an NRI angle — that is exactly the moment to call or WhatsApp, so we can confirm the right office before you spend a day at the wrong counter.

Questions & Answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the city or area really change the process?

The central laws are the same across India, but the office, the residence proof and the verification habits change by location. That is why a Delhi file and a Mumbai file can feel different even with identical documents — jurisdiction and local practice decide the practical experience.

My area is not listed — can you still help?

Yes. Send a WhatsApp message with your location and we will map the likely office, the route that fits and the document checklist for your area, even if it does not yet have its own page.

Which Delhi office will handle my marriage?

In Delhi it depends on your district — there are eleven district SDM offices, and your residence decides which one holds jurisdiction. A Dwarka address, a Rohini address and a Saket address are handled by different offices.

Can we register if the two partners live in different cities?

Often yes, but jurisdiction must be checked. Residence proof and, for the Special Marriage Act, the notice district decide which office can accept the file. We confirm this before booking anything.

Do you cover the whole NCR?

Yes — Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad and Faridabad are all covered, and each has its own jurisdiction quirks that we account for.
